Legislation
The Energy Act (1998, as amended in 2020 and 2023) and the SANS 1544 standard require qualifying buildings in South Africa to display an Energy Performance Certificate. The certificate reflects how efficiently a building uses energy and must be issued by a SANEDI registered EPC Professional and verified by a Quality Assurer.
